Dollie was born on April 22, 1952 to Marcell Hudnall-Leggett. She was raised by Bragg and Katherine McMiller-Hudnall, Sr. in Kemper County, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by Marcell Hudnall-Leggett; her stepfather, J.C. Leggett; Bragg and Katherine McMiller-Hudnall, Sr.; her sister, Amonia Hudnall-Gordon; and Bragg Hudnall, Jr. whom she considered a brother.
She graduated from West Kemper High School in 1970 and briefly pursued an education in nursing.
She married her husband, Roosevelt McCalebb on June 8, 1972. From this union, three children were born: Roosevelt McCalebb, Jr. whom the Lord called home early, and Brian and Brandi McCalebb.
Dollie joined the New Hope Blackwater Baptist Church where she faithfully served as secretary, a member of the Home Mission Society, general announcer, treasurer, and temporarily served in the choir early on.
Dollie passed away on August 29, 2020 at 11:10 p.m. in the ICU at Rush Health Systems. She is survived by her husband, Roosevelt McCalebb; her two children, Brian and Brandi McCalebb; her sister, Lucille Hudnall-McCalebb; sisters Carolyn, Gail, Juanita, Monica, and Rita; brothers John and Ronnie; and a host of other family and friends.
Dollie loved and cherished all of her loved ones. A beacon of light to all she met, she could not stand idly by when she saw others in need. She was always there to offer a helping hand and a warm smile to those who needed it.
